Sound designer and A1 for NCTC’s remount of Ride The Cyclone.
Ride The Cyclone is a genre-bending musical about dead teenagers in purgatory, recounting their lives before the devastating roller coaster accident that killed them. Through a barrage of themed musical numbers and a derelict carnival aesthetic, the show explores themes of grief, loss, purpose, and worth.
This production was a re-mount of Ride The Cyclone, which initially ran in NCTC’s 2024 season. As the team wanted to faithfully recreate their original run, all sound effects and equipment were provided by the original sound designer of the show, Kalon Thibodeaux.
For the 2025 run of this musical, I was tasked with balancing and operation of band and cast microphones, while providing effects on mics when needed. I was also responsible for programming and mixing the show for the 5 weeks it ran. As this show utilized a Yamaha TL3 board, additional tools such as TheaterMix and SuperRack were incorporated to remount this bombastic musical.
